5 Things to Learn from Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Life ( Special on Birth Anniversary)

Guru Gobind Singh is the tenth Sikh Guru, a spiritual master, warrior, poet and philosopher. When their father, Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, was beheaded for refusing to convert to Islam. Guru Gobind Singh was formally appointed as the leader of the Sikhs at age nine, becoming the tenth Sikh Guru.

How can we apply Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s teachings in the modern world? Seems difficult right?

Well, in this small blog I am going to explain 5 points taken from their life which are very useful in modern corporate life/culture. Today in all over the world we are celebrating their birth anniversary, therefore it is very important to learn few things from their life.

1.Learn as Much as You Can (Not only Academics)

In current day and age, our learnings are limited to 2 or 3 languages and we don’t bother to teach more to our children. Guru Ji learned many languages including Sanskrit, Urdu, Hindi, Braj, Gurmukhi and Persian. They also learnt these languages so well in later life he wrote poetry and books which are an example for today’s youth. Guru Ji also learned horse riding, fighting skills, Gatka & martial arts to become adept in combat.

2.How to tackle your enemy/ competition

Guru Ji never fought for any land, money or any kind of acquisitions, they only fought against wrong happenings around them that time. Guru ji teaches us how to tackle your enemy in the war field. We can reflect that in the business world where everyone is doing cut-throat business.  Guru Ji teaches to use all tactics against your enemy, first understand your competition properly. What are they planning, what is their next move etc. Be prepared all the time, always have a strong and determined mindset. Use various methods to beat the competition. Guru Ji teaches us to have a determined mind in business or in your job.

3.Be Polite to Your Team, Respect them and Learn from them

In the current corporate world it is very important to have a good team and above all, it is very important to be a role model as the leader. While creating Khalsa Guru Ji made this very clear by drinking holy water from people of the public.

4.Give Dasvand ( Give something to Charity )

Guru Ji teaches to care others who are in need. We are lucky to live a life where we are able to get all the things we need, however, there are many people around us who are not even able to get necessary things in life. Therefore, Guru Ji teaches us to think about others and give 10% to charity or at least what you can afford. This way you will contribute to helping society around you.

5. No Chugli No Nindiya

In the modern world at workplaces, many people are suffering just due to office gossips. Some people even end up losing the job or resigning from the job just due to office gossip or office politics. Guru Ji also teaches us not to do any kind of Gossip to each other.

 Takeaway

In the modern world, we are distracted by many things around us and it is getting more hard to be focused. It is our duty and responsibility to teach our youngsters how to live a good life. We are only focusing on education nothing else, and in the corporate world, there is a need to have a wide thinking. We must be determined, focused and dedicated to whatever we are doing in our jobs or business only then we will be successful.
